Perform all thy actions with mind concentrated on the Divine, renouncing attachment and looking upon success and failure with an equal eye. Spirituality implies equanimity.[ Trans. Purohit Swami]

About This Quote

One day, a sage was sitting near a lake. The sound of a bell in the distance disturbed him, and he asked his pupils to find out who was making such a noise. One of them went to investigate and found a man engaged in the practice of yoga. The man was chanting and humming while he performed his actions with mind absorbed in the Divine.

The scholar approached him and asked whether he really believed that his actions had any value. “I do," said the yogi. "Once I was enchanted by the beauty of the God-haunted Himalayas and I wanted to live there.

The more I thought about it, the more I became convinced that only through devotion to God could I hope to attain that divine experience. So I decided to undertake a pilgrimage to Him. On reaching the Himalayas, however, I discovered that all my hopes were in vain: I had come too late; She was no longer there.

“But she must be somewhere," I thought, "She must still be somewhere." That is how my pilgrimage began: looking for an object which had already disappeared! And so, after many wanderings and years of wandering, I finally found this lake where She had appeared long ago. She is here again!”
